So I better post something about it too.

And since everything under the Sun has aleady been posted, I though I just quote some interesting facts from The Economist magazine Sept 10 to Sept 16, 2005 issue.

According to the magazine, these were the reactions from top US officials after Katrina struck America and in areas equivalent to the size of Britain.

(1) George Bush was listless and confused. He said that 'nobody had anticipated the breaching of the levees even though people have been worrying about the possibility for years and an official report published in 2001 warned of impending disaster.

(2) Dick Cheney, the vice president, remained on Holiday in Wyoming (Remark: I assumed it is not flooding in Wyoming).

(3) Condoleezza Rice, the highest ranking black in the country, saw a Broadway show "Spamalot".

And interestingly, after 11th Sept 'Osama Bin Ladin' day, the US has poured billions into creating the Department of Homeland Security to deal with catastrophe events. All this new stylo milo Department of Homeland Security did after Katrina was to just act blur and do nothing. I guess, maybe...flooding doesn't pose any security risk to the Homeland?

Being cheem can be a result of being stupid

After reading some posts between BlinkyMummy and C_F_L_L_N, and especially this statement,

生活真的那么辛苦meh? - C_F_L_L_N

I feel some 墨水 flowing out.

I get the feeling that some people believe that they are bery experience, mature or wise about life just because they can be cheem. But having lots of questions and no answers is no better than living a simple life. It just means you are incapable of solving your problems. Nothing else.

One thing is confirmed, those who are cheem are very good at words, just like journalists can write lots of craps but are just empty sounding gongs.

Being successful in life is simple; that means you are happy with life. Every person needs different things in life to be happy. So everyone has to find their own formulas and ingredients.

Do you have to find what you need before you can be happy. Not really. The process of finding can be equally enjoyable. In the meantime, we have to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Reading a book, listening to music, watching a good movie, spending time with good friends, doing your job well, writing a good blog or book, learning a new subject or a new skill can all be enjoyable.

People who get too cheem and cannot find answers eventually turn depressive and suicidal. These people are too engrossed about themselves. They are like frogs in their own wells and cannot see beyond their own self-created darkness.

I read this somewhere...(but don't remember where liao).

Once you realized how insignificant you are in the universe, in your God's plan (whatever your religion), in your country, in your local community, you can then care about other people. The earth doesn't revolve around you.

You don't have to wait for other people to make an impact in your life. There is a lot of things you can do to make an impact in others' life.

You have to be contented and happy in your life before you can make another person happy. Otherwise, do not drag another person into your temple of boredom, sorrow or pain.

Are you stressed?

Being stressed is a common experience and everyone goes through it right?

I beg to differ. I haven't felt any stress for many years. Maybe 10 or maybe 15 years. You ask "How is it possible that you don't feel stressed?". Why should I? Being stressed is a choice and once you realised it is counter-productive and borderlining stupidity, you may want to take control of your emotions more often.

Why do we choose to be stressed? Why are you stressed?

Ah..so many things to worried about? So many deadlines? So many things can go wrong?

But how does being stressed help you? Does it postpone your deadlines? Does it make your problems go away? Does it make you more productive?

Some told me they worked harder when they were stressed. The point is, why can't we work without being stressed? Why can't we motivate ourselves in other way?

I think being in a state of stress actually lowers your productivity and lessen your time to think of solutions or to think of better ways of solving your problems.

The majority of people that I come across actually told me they were incapable of doing anything because they were too stressed. Some said their minds were 'blank' due to too much stress. So...why be stressed? Don't we all learn from our own experience?

Maybe by claiming that we are stressed, we can give excuse when we are incapable of thinking?

Being stressed is as useless as being angry. Both are weaknesses that should be managed if a person wants to achieve greater things in life.

Mayday New Album

Woo hoo, so happy. Bought Mayday's collection "Contented" with 6 new songs.

Finally after 5 years, a proper collection is released.

Interestingly, Monsters wrote 3 out of the 6 new songs. I am not sure if this is good or bad. Good in that Mayday can rely less on Ah Sing but then Ah Sing is such a wonderful songwriter that you don't want him to write less.

I think Ah Sing has written some songs in the last 5 year that will one day be acknowledged as rock anthems and Hokkien folk songs.

Strongly recommended for anyone who is into light rock and good music.

The Cover of a Book

Since young, we were taught not to judge a book by it's cover. There are lots of children stories and chinese proverbs teaching us not to rely on outward appearance for our judgement and on treating others.

But in real life, outward appearance is important. At times very important.

To judge someone by his or her outward appearance is shallow but to ignore the power of good looks is naive as well.

All things equal, being good looking always help. In job searching, in making casual friends, in forming alliance and in business proposals, good looks helps a lot. If anything, we always prefer to have someone pleasant to look at when we are selecting a businss partner or a friend. If that someone makes your heart races, all the more better. A sincere and good looking face is the most convincing combination when it comes to business proposition.

A beautiful or a handsome colleague always brightens up an office and instil new energy to surrounding colleagues. Suddenly there are more jokes being cracked and more volunteers to do things around the office.

A potential employer conducting interviews among many potential candidates will prefer someone that he likes to look at every day; especially if it is going to be his direct subordinate.

I can only think of two main disadvantages of good looks.

(1) You tend to attract all sorts of people who want to love you. At times, it's hard to tell if they love you for your looks or your characters. But since in reality, looks always precede characters, then it really doesn't matter. You just have to be wise, don't be vain, and choose your partner carefully. At least you have a wide selection to start with.

(2) Being good looking sometimes can get into one's head. Good looking people are usually popular. Sometimes popularity can be misinterpreted as a result of being capable or intelligent. In such case, it may reduce the motivation to improve oneself.

For those with good looks, be thankful that you have natural advantages that others don't.

For those without good looks, work extra hard to compete with those with good looks. The only way to beat them is to offer more results and higher quality of work.

This brings us back to something which I have posted before - life is not fair. Your looks are determined from the time you were conceived and hence you are affected by it no matter what you do in life. The truth is - life is never meant to be fair. If you don't have good looks, and all you do is bitch about how unfair you were being treated versus your good looking competitors, you are not going to achieve much and be happy in life.

Definitely plain jane

Wah biang, last few days when I accidentally switched channel to Channel U, I caught glimpses of the contenders for "Definitely Superstars" contest.

Did I see wrongly? Got one cock-eyes and the rest looks like very ordinary people. I think the Ah Bengs of Blinkymummy maybe better looking and more talented.

So what 'star' qualities? What is the point in having this "Definitely plain jane" contest?

Money lor. 2 steps to easy money.

(1) Invite any tom, dick, harry, lily, lucy and lian who want to be famous (there is no shortage of them) to sing and dance for free and to make a fool of themselves on TV.

(2) Make the TV viewers feel important and that they are empowered to be the judges in deciding the fate of these silly people. Ask them to sms many many times.

Each sms = 50 cents. 500,000 sms = ?

I think Channel 5 was right not to have Super Idol every year. Where got so many steady pon bi bi idols around? Even the spokeperson of channel 5 said so in Straits Times

"We are not saying we don't have enough Singaporeans who are good enough to be super idol, but Singapore is a small country".

By twisting words, using multiple reverse logics and by using long sentences mean people won't know what you are saying is it?

Not to mention Super Idol is not as cheap to run as "Definitely Plain Jane" contest because Channel 5 has to pay lots of money to the company who owns the "Super Idol" franchise.

Many other channels also started some kind of quiz or lucky draw contests and asking people to sms so that they can win $1,000 or a cheap mobile phone. Some companies even think it is worth it to make an advertisement, paid mediacorp for air-time and ask people to sms for some word quiz.

The power of mass media and mass sms!

By the way, how come sms gambling no need licence? Isn't it like buying 4-D? Ah..I gamble 50 cents to win $1,000, maybe I sms a few times can win?

The value of education

We often hear comments like "Why are you doing this? This is unrelated to your degree or to your training?" What a load of rubbish? Why must our job be related to our degree or to our training so far?

We spent a large part of our life getting educated. From pre-school to tertiary education, and then post-tertiary and external courses we took, we probably spent 1/4 of our life studying something. Maybe that gives many people the impression that we should be in a career that is related to our degree.

What should education provide us and what are the greatest benefits of being educated?

Education should equip people in three important abilities:

(1) The ability to analyze

(2) The ability to communicate

(3) The ability to learn fast

The abiiity to analyze
Some big organizations adopt 'logical tests' to select management trainees. This comes in a form of about 50 paragraphs and participants will be given 5 answers for each paragraph. These 5 answers describe what each paragraph is trying to convey and only 1 answer is the most appropriate.

The good news is that you don't have to be good in English to fare well in such tests. In fact, people who speak good english and write fluently can fare badly in such tests. Being good at English doesn't make a person automatically good at logic.

Being good at logic, vertically or laterally, is important for one analytical skill. Having good analytical skill leads to good discretion and better understanding of issues.

The ability to communicate

Having strong analytical skill and good discretion enable one to have clarity of thoughts and this is the basis of good communication. You must be clear what is in your mind in the first place. Then you can organize your views in a systematic and clear manner.

Once you sort out your own views, you need to sort out the views of the intended recipient. In an effective communication, you cannot be saying things without taking into consideration the intended recipient. Let's use an example.

Assuming you need to persuade your boss that your business plan is the best amongst your colleagues. Firstly, you need to be clear what are the strengths and selling points of your business plan. This enables you to present them so that your boss can understand you.

Next, you need to judge what would be the objections of your boss and if your boss would have other personal or politic issues. You need to handle such issues. Otherwise, your business plan is not going to be adopted.

To be a successful person, you must understand this important rule:

Good communication is both ways; and both ways are your responsibility.

The ability to learn fast

The market place is changing so fast that what we learn in our school or in our degree get outdated soon. These days we need to learn and adapt on a daily basis.

The most important benefit of education is that it forces us to discover which type of learning techniques or methods are best for us. Those who are constantly scoring well are usually people who are effective in their learning process. They are not necessarily genius or smarter than the rest.

Those who keep trying to memorize and read every pages of their textbooks will fare badly and eventually drop out of the system. Unfortunately no one can teach you how to learn effectively. You need to experiment.

I have a friend who is an Arts graduate. In the last few years, I witnessed him learning how to use Excel in structuring complicated investment spreadsheet, writing professional reports and setting up a computer network for about 100 people in his office. He keeps re-inventing himself and this is perhaps the reason why he is highly regarded by his employer and holding a senior position compared to his peers.

Someone like him will never lose his job. In fact, employers love such employees.

In every position that we occupy, we have to learn fast to be effective. To be successful in every assignment that we undertake, we have to analyse different situations, the behaviours of all the stakeholders, keyplayers and identify the critical success factors and sort out the threats.

In every assignment, in every position and in any business, we need to learn and re-learn everyday because things change everyday.

Is Singapore's education system able to teach you all these? Is it the fault of the education system that you didn't pick up these 3 skills?

Reality versus upbringing

I frequently come across people who complaint about being treated unfairly in their working places. They were very upset. Some lost sleep, some got depressed and some got very angry so much so that their family and personal time was affected. So...one bad experience (unhappiness in office) leading to more bad experience with family and with oneself. How stupid could that be?

By being upset with your boss and your colleagues, will they suffer? I doubt they know you are suffering in your little corner.

You are the only one suffering when you get angry.

But why must your boss or your colleagues be fair to you?

From a recent survey that was published on the Straits Times, apparently one main source of unhappiness came from the working place and I think this notion of fairness must have a lot to do with it.

In our upbringing, our parents and school tried to teach us that fairness is important and it should be upheld. This somehow got into our system and we grow up thinking that we should be treated fairly but this is wrong.

In reality and in life and in every circumstances of life, nobody has the duty to treat you fairly. The sooner you understand this fact of life, you can live a happier life.

Even we cannot be fair in all our dealings and to all our loved ones.

In your career, working hard and contributing the most will not always bring the necessary recognition and rewards. This is a fact of life. Just because you think you should be treated fairly doesn't mean it will happen. Wise up. Find out what will get you your recognition and rewards, then assess if you have what it takes, then decide if you want to do those things.

That is how people get promoted and that is why some people will always move faster than you. Because they understand reality and you don't. Who says your boss has to be fair to you?

If you don't think you want to do things that will get you promoted, then rest your case or look for another employer. The last thing you should do is to mess up your family and personal life on some childish notion that people should be fair to you.

Fairness is merely an idealogy. We should try to be fair ourselves but let's not expect others to be fair to you. You can be a happier person and a much more effective person once you adopt this mindset.

How's your Artificial Intelligence?

Recently George Lucas commented that the PC game community need to improve the Artificial Intelligence ('AI') of gaming. For a while, I started to recall how some games such as Half-life has very good AI compared to some dumb games but soon I begin to think about the AI of people.

Personally I think everyone of us should aspire to improve our own AI too. This is perhaps the key to our happiness?

If you think human beings are born with intelligence, you are wrong. Human beings are not born with natural intelligence. This is evident as we look at babies and toddlers. They behave in the weirdest manner and adults simply find them amusing. Teenagers often do silly things. Of course, the stupidest things are done by the adults themselves.

We improve our AI by learning about life as we grow, forming our values and principles, recognising logics and reasonings and observing other people.

Each of us have different levels of AI. Some of us have level 1 (lowest) and some have level 10 (highest). Do you remember the last time when someone approached you and confided in you some seemingly complicated situations in life and asked you for advice and in your mind, you were thinking "What's with him? It's so simple, just do A, then B and C". Whenever I have this kind of thoughts, I wonder if at sometime or another, another person whom I have approached with my problems might also harbour the same thoughts?

The person with level 10 AI probably can solve most of his problems and be very happy in life. The person with level 5 should lead a satisfactory life and the person with level 1 and 2 will frequently land himself in trouble (at least to him).

Just as the level 1 AI person will go to a person with level 5 AI for counselling and advice, the level 5 AI person will have problems of his own and he goes to the person with level 10 AI.

If you think hard enough, you will recall some people around you (friends, colleagues or relatives) who are always in situations where they couldn't figure out what to do and these are the people who are constantly in some kind of troubles because their AI could not figure out seemingly simple situations (to you).

The important thing for you and I is to figure out if we are the person with level 5 or level 10. It is not difficult. Have you solved most of your problems in life? In office? At home? With friends? If you are still plagued with many problems, then you may be level 2 or 5 AI.

The good news is that if we recognize the fact that we are not born with any AI and that just like a baby or toddler, we have to formulate and upgrade our own AI, then we can eventually be the person with level 9 or 10 AI.

Why should we be constantly plagued by the same issues in life? How many times must we be adversely affected by the same problems before we learn how to solve it once and for all? Surely if others are not plagued by the same issues, there must be a way out?

Steps on raising your AI

Step 1: Stop blaming luck or your environment

Step 2: Determine if the problem is you or not first, this is the hardest step and requires 100% honesty

Step 3: If the problem is not entirely you, determine how you contributed to it

Step 4: Determine if the problem is really that big deal in the first place?

Step 5: Determine if the problem has a long lasting effect? Even if you think so, get real and compare to other real life instances (e.g., like when you just broke up with the love of your life and you think that you will never love again, think again)

Step 6: Find out people with higher AI then you, listen to their advice and try out. May be good to try a few high AI people or go to the tried-and-tested ones.

Step 7: Learn all the handling advice in step 6 and your AI has just been upgraded!

My quality of life has just improved

It's been a few years since I last felt that my quality of life in Singapore has improved but today I definitely felt it.

For the second straight day, I left office at around 7.30 pm and headed to CTE.

OMG! Usually the traffic on the road between my office, about 2 km, to the CTE entrance, would be crawling but today there were very few cars.

And then when I got onto CTE, it was just like yesterday and I was able to drive at 80 to 90 km/h consistently.

My usual returning home trip of 45 minutes has been reduced to 20 minutes. And I have saved petrol by cruising along the full distance.

All these, I just have to pay 50 cents. Wow! All thanks to Malboro Tan.

Happy CTE ride

Being a pro-Gahman beng, I thought I should drive my car along CTE and let my car be registered as one of those cars who drove by the CTE gantry between 6 pm to 8 pm and thus contributing to the national reserve of Singapore.

To my surprise, the charge was only 50 cents. Another beng told me that the minimum ERP charge is $1 and this is apparently not true.

So when I was driving along CTE, I was very happy to be charged 50 cents. Before the implementation of this evening ERP, the CTE was always jammed. Most cars were reduced to 20km/h and a stop-start stop-start driving ordeal for a long stretch of the CTE and typically from the Orchard tunnel upto Ang Mo Kio Ave 3.

I have a feeling that the jammed condition actually led to high petrol cost of more than 50 cents for a single CTE ride. I don't know how much exactly but I know that car consumes the least petrol when cruising and most petrol when starting from a stationery position.

Most importantly, the 50 cents saves time for me now. It probably cut my journey home by about 15 to 20 minutes today.

I hope those drivers who decided to take other busy roads and ended up stopping at the numerous traffic lights and incurring higher petrol costs will continue to do so. Let's hope they won't realise that the 50 cents ERP charge is actually a fantastic deal in petrol and time saving for the rest of us. Otherwise if everyone starts returning to the CTE again then the ERP charge may have to be raised to $1 ....

See no evil, blog your head la!

Nabei, this Sumiko Tan from the Gangster newspaper today (31 July 2005) wrote this about net and blogging:

Cyberspace has degenerated into such a malicious, nasty, toxic place. Are people more holy in their offices, on the streets and at home versus the Net?

It's more an issue of hypocrisy and honesty when it comes to real life versus the net.

Even though i am a Ah beng, I have many professional friends who are engineers and investment specialists and they often told me how 'stupid' and 'untrained' journalists wrote about highly technical issues about science and investments and gave bad advice. They made a few phone calls to their friends in the respective industries, often only getting one sided views, and then wrote articles giving advice to the public based on 'their sources'.

In asserting one's right to comment, surely one must be guided by some decency and decorum? - Ms Sumiko Tan

Am I the only one sensing some irony here?

I think journalists who want to write about investing, property, science and highly technical issues should take the relevant professional examinations and also be required to fulfil certain minimum training hours each year for the specialised fields. What makes journalists so intelligent and wise that they are exempted from updating themselves and still allow to publish articles influencing the public?

In asserting one's right to comment on professional issues, surely one must have some updated professional knowledge?

Some journalists, like Ms. Sumiko Tan, write about their personal opinion. What makes your opinion so great or so right? They could be just bile and vile floating around for some readers as well.

I have nothing against Ms. Sumiko Tan, I actually find her quite chio. I am also not trying to defend the blogging community. But if Ms. Sumiko Tan can 'brand' other people's opinion as bile and vile, then surely I am entitled to do so as well. Surely we are all entitled to write our opinion and not just journalists?

NABEH, no wonder so few comments

Just discovered from Pee, someone who commented in Blinkymummy's blog that I have disallowed anonymous and people who haven't registered with Blogger from commenting in my blog.

No wonder I feel so lonely in here and there were so few comments even though there were several hundreds hits in the last week.

Being a new blogger, I didn't know there is such a setting in the first place.

I have removed the restriction and let's see if I will get more comments. When politicians promised during elections that they would create jobs, it might not be the jobs that you want or the kind of jobs that you are good for.

These days jobs are created, perished and new jobs evolved.

Some Singaporeans are still stuck in their mindsets that once they joined a company, they should be guaranteed a job for life doing the same paper shuffling and stamping or operating some machineries/equipments and that they should be getting decent increments every year.

It's time to wake up to reality?

It's not the Gahman's fault that jobs come and go faster than we can learn new tricks sometimes. It's market forces such as consumerism (yes, you and I), profitability, corporate governance accountability and technology that destroy jobs. Let me explain a bit more.

Consumerism
We want our products cheap and nice. If Company A is cheaper than company B, we buy products from company A. What does this mean? That means company B has to find ways to lower their cost of production such as shifting manufacturing to lower cost countries like China, Mexico or Malaysia and using the least employees to get the job done.

All the above is to stay competitive.

Corporate governance and stockmarket effect
Even if a company is profitable, it has accountability to its shareholders and should be maximising its profits. In the case of a listed company, the pressure is even more intense as they have to publicize their financial results and offer justifications. The management of a company is equally accountable to the shareholders as much as to its employees.

Many people including you and I are investors in unit trusts and these unit trusts hold listed companies that we expect them to be maximising their profits. Wearing a different hat as investor, we may not want the company we invested in to be employing excess people and thus lower our profits.

Technology and other changes
MP3 players replaced walkman, automated carpark scanner replaced carpark attendant and the lists go on. The process of renewals and replacements happen in all walks of life and in business. This is the state of the world we are in. Can you expect your job to be always the same?

Are we all doomed in such marketplace? No. I have friends, who are continuously being headhuntered, offered better jobs from multiple companies and one thing for sure, if you stay relevant and is able to adapt and learn to perform new duties, you will always have a job.

There are friends of mine who are jobless and they will complain about all sorts of injustice and politics and everything under the sun except taking a good look at themselves.

Then there are people who rather not work far away or work in jobs that have lower pay than their previous jobs. The irony is that they don't realize that their industry is at a decline and that there is no way any company can pay them similar pay anymore.

THe fundamental truth is that we need our brains to be agile and be always looking out to learn new things. We should not be thinking that learning new things is stressful. It's a matter of habits and attitudes.

Once we are able to adopt the new mindset of constant learning, we will always be relevant in the job market.

In fact, there is another important benefit of accepting the fact that we have to constantly adapt because it is the same with our lovelife/marriage.

Love, just like bread, needs to be kept fresh everyday

We must enjoy the process of growing with our loved ones. We must enjoy making efforts to keep our love spicy. We should not take for granted that our spouses will always love us.

"It's ok, I do my own things for a while and he does his own things for a while."

Problem is people change, you change and one day you may feel like a stranger to your spouse.

Perhaps if you accept the fact that the world is constantly evolving in its own way and that your love needs to be worked at, you will have both a successful career and a happy lovelife.

My brothers want to disown me

Almost.

First, I was caught using an iPod. My gang brothers said "Lan Jiao la, where got Ah Beng use ipod one? Ipod is for gay and cha bor only"

I managed to appease them by proving that I have hokkien songs in my ipod. Some classics like "Sim shi sian lan zha" and "Ai piang jia A yah" saved me from being kicked out of my brotherhood.

Another time was when some brothers came to my house and found the original DVD of the korean movie "A Moment To Remember".

They said "Wah lan, your brother Ah Seng got sell pirated one, why you never support him ah?" and "Wah lau, are you a real man? Only gay and housewife watched Korean movies" I quickly say it's my mother's DVD.

Truth be told (and I think quite safe since none of my brothers read blog), I bought this DVD myself. This is my new favourite movie now. Maybe I not so manly ah? I really love the little moments between the two leads. Their love felt so real and I think I follow them to Heaven when they found true love with each other and I followed them to hell when the wife contracted Alzheimer and slowly lost all her memories.

What's love good for if I lost all my memories?

Nabei, I even cried watching the movie quite a lot. There were many very moving moments in this movie. After existing for 20+ years, I thought I have no tear ducts. I think I am a quite soft when it comes to love. Watch those movies with many people dying also no feeling.

And the female lead is simply the loveliest cha bor I have ever seen after biaoing cha bor since I have hairs there. See for yourself.

Wonder if I can bring BM to watch together and wonder if BM will like a man who cried for love?

Blinkymummy just nabehed me

Ok, I just got nabehed by BM for writing that she wrote a "guide on how to be good in bed for the ladies". Paiseh lei, my mistake la. Must have read someone's blog and mixed up with BM but hoped you don't get angry, it's not my fault that I keep thinking of you, you so pretty mah.

Now at least I know you are a virgin like me and still waiting to give our first time to our spouse when we get married.

To be honest, I think BM needs a man like me to guide her. She has too many questions with no answers and there won't be answers for a long while.

At twenty something, there are two groups of young adults. The first group just cheong with the conventional and standard-formula paths that most Singaporeans know. The second group have lots of questions about everything (BM belongs in this group).

The first group will be happy for now because they are too busy cheonging and have no time to think so much. This group will become disillusioned in their late 30s' if they cannot find the right careers or form the kind of families that can support them mentally.

The second group will be torturing themselves RIGHT NOW. Having all the questions and not having answers are tortorous right now. What kind of career you want? What is meaningful to you? What path should you take? What kind of person you want to be? What kind of spouse should you be married to? Is there real love? Can real love last? Can I live with real love and little $? Do I want to be rich and famous?

Problem is some questions will never have answers until you live the experience.

Life is a series of trials and errors and putting your best efforts in your choices. The important thing is what BM posted once in her own blog; live your life and don't regret it. Many people know this but Living this belief is a big challenge in itself.

People get depressed, disillusioned and sceptical of life because they cannot 'don't regret it'.

Life is like a garden. The more you put into it, the more likely it is going to be a beautiful garden. You have to weed, water and fetilize your garden. You have to plan it well. You have to re-do some parts of your garden if things go wrong.

The day you decide to be disillusioned and sceptical of life, your garden will never be beautiful.

Got to go for now. Been thinking of writing about the job market and also one of the korean movie my street brother passed me, the female lead damn pretty man!

Come, take few hundred thousands and gamble

As stated in my first post, I am a pro-Gahman beng. So that means out of 10 policies, I am usually happy with all 10 policies and occasionally I don't like one policy.

The recent change in property loan financing is one such bad policy that I want to spit at the Gahman. What on earth is happening? The Gahman has stated so many times in the past that 80% loan financing was good enough and it would not be prudent to relax the regulation and now they do it???

90% loan financing is worst than having 10 new casinos. Yah right, come and borrow few hundred thousands and gamble on property. The next time the property market crashes and you lose your job, tie a rock around your neck and jump into the sea or what?

Then there are those property experts and journalists (who pretend to be experts) who even boldly proclaimed property prices will increase by 10% in the next two years. HELLO!!! Such experts must come from the following 3 categories:

(1) They have peanut-sized brains

(2) They have alzheimer; they forgot what happened in the property market in the last 15 years

(3) They have invested in a few properties and are now hoping the prices will go up so that they can sell their properties.

What led to the sharp increase in private property prices in Singapore from the late 80s to 90s?

(1) High economic growth of 8% annually from late 80s onwards

(2) Lots of HDB upgraders who bought their HDB flats from $10,000 to $50,000 many years ago found that their HDB flats were worth $100,000 to $200,000. So it was simple, they sold their HDB flats and used the profits for downpayment on new private properties.

(3) High public confidence in income potential and high income growth. Frankly, who has ever heard of retrenchment and re-structuring then in the early 90s? Everyone believed that they could keep getting high pay increases and high bonuses.

(4) Lots of spare CPF savings.

(5) Foreigners were buying up private properties and renting them and this made investing in private properties attractive

(6) Speculative fever set in around 1993 onwards and prices went off real valuation since.

HELLO! EXPERTS, do any of these factors still exist now? ARE YOU BLIND?

(1) We no longer have high economic growth.

(2) Even people staying in HDB flats have negative equity these days; i.e., their loans may be more than the market values of their houses

(3) Everyone now worries about their job security. MNCs now happy happy just cut staff. Even local bank also retrenched people for fun. Companies re-locate here and then relocate there. SME not even sure they can sustain their business for long.

(4) CPF contributions keep going down and maximum salary allowed for CPF contribution will decrease to $4,500 in Jan 2006 (used to be $6,000)

(5) Foreigners? Not sure what they are doing now.

(6) There is no speculative fever now but the world has become a very dangerous place. The last two times Singapore has recessions were induced by external factors. E.g., 1998 Asia Economic Crisis, 2000 US recessions and Technology bubble burst. Anytime Singapore can plunge into economic crisis, and private property prices can crash and your company can fire you. What are you going to do?

As if a bad policy and stupid property experts are not enough, we also have the blood-sucking aggressive salesmen. I don't mean my insurance agent, he is actually quite mild because he is scared of me. If he cheats me, I ask my brothers to 'hoot' him. The blood-sucking aggressive salesmen here are the banks. Frankly I think my insurance agent is more trustworthy than the banks these days. So many times I see bank officers try to ask old ladies to divert their fixed deposits into high risk unit trusts. No doubt they will try to sell their 90% loan financing aggressively and come and possess your house when you are out of job.

First we have to deal with a fast changing world, now we have to beware of bad Gahman policy, stupid advice from so-called experts and fend off banks that will come and offer lots of lucky draws and free gifts to encourage people to tie rocks around their necks.

Nothing we can do but just spit and say CIBYE!

Singapore men, STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!!

Ok, this being a new blog, I think I have to write about sex to attract some attention. Hopefully after a while, I don't have to write about sex anymore because I am quite shy one.

I think my favourite hot convent girl, Blinkymummy, also wrote a guide on how to be good in bed for the ladies (which shows her inexperience about bedding affairs and which makes me like her more), so I should also write one for the men too.
[Correction: I got nabehed by BM because apparently she didn't write such an article]

Is it disturbing to you all (men in this instance) that there are so many women commenting how Singapore men are bad in bed?

Doesn't matter that 75% (or more) of these women who posted on how men are bad in bed are behaving like dead logs in bed themselves, we need to shut them up. Come on, Singapore always number 1 one, we have best airport, best port, best mathematic scores, best appetitie during buffets and what not, so why should we not be best in bed too?

Before I begin my guide, let's get one thing straight. A high percentage of the so-called "bad in bed" are deliberate one la. Let me give you some common scenarios where Singapore men will pretend that they 'cannot stand' or 'eject already'.

Scenario 1:

You pick up a girl with an hourglass figure and looking like a chio bu. Then when you finally strip her of her clothes and make-ups, ALAMAK!!, she is transformed into another person. You discovered that all her assets are fake...and wah lau oei, she is damn ugly man!

The technology of wonderbra is damn advance now and some girls actually went to professional make-up artists before they go to pub to have a good time.

At this point, the man will be thinking "Wah lauz, sian ah..., wasted my time and my taxi fares (or car petrol), maybe I just pretend I cannot get up and quickly go back to the pub and pick up another chio bu"

Some men with stronger pride will not allow themselves to be seen as "cannot get up", so they will instead say "I am going to take a bath" and then proceed to the bath room to arouse their kkc (horse for rockson and dragon for me) until it is going to explode. Then they return to the bed and eject on the women. By doing so, they can save their own pride and also make the women feel good that they are so hot that the men had premature ejections.

Scenario 2:

Ok, the girl turned out to be not that ugly and still bearable under very dim light and also you can go for doggie position so that you won't have to see her face. But then she behaves like a dead log and you really don't want to be getting involved in necrophilia .

At this point, most men have two options again. (1) Pretend they cannot stand or (2) Say they are taking a bath.

/drumroll !!!!

Ok, after I have clarified the impression that Singapore men cannot stand up for Singapore and often have premature ejections, it is now the time for my "Eternal bliss" guide to lovemaking for men. Sometimes a chiobu really turned out to be a chiobu and sometimes you want to make a 'quiet and shy' girl shows her primitive nature, you need to read my guide carefully.

Equipments you need: Nail clipper and nail file.

Now you must be thinking, why the fug I need nail clipper and nail file for? Am I supposed to stick that thing into .... /BONG!!! NO LA! You PERVERT!

Other than your kkc, you need your fingers and your tongue to do the lovemaking.

Well, always keep your nail short and file them nicely so that they are not sharp. Your fingers and your tongue are very important in making the woman 'miao'. Ok, have you heard of the G-spot? This is the spot you want to caress slowly. If you get it right, you will get instant response within 10 sec. Be very gentle at first because some girls, such as virgins and the inexperienced girls, may find it painful (luckily such girls are quite rare now).

Once you get the miaoing started, you need to work it with some rhythm. Rub it gentlely, hit it lightly, caress the area around it and also just press your inner palm around it from time to time. Do this for about 10 minutes and you should be hearing lots of groaning and moaning. Actually this is very shiok one. Don't just shiok shiok yourself can? Don't be selfish please. Spread the joy a bit la.

Meantime, you still have one hand and your mouth free right? Caress the neh neh and kissing her lips and her ears gently will make her miao even more!

After some 20 to 25 minutes, usually you will hear "Come...I want...". Then you say "Er...what you mean?" and at the same time, stick you index or middle finger into her little sister a bit like 1 to 2 mm. "Come...I want la...", you say "Er...what do you want?".

"FUCK ME!!!!"

You say "Cannot la, we are still not married, and I really love you, I don't want to start our relationship in the wrong manner" while saying this, you move down and use your tongue to lick the same area gently, press your tongue against it hard and suck it too. You may want to practise your tongue on hammering action a bit. Can be very tiring for your tongue if your tongue is new to this.

More miaoing to follow. Do this for 10 minutes. By this time, the miaoing will turn into screaming and heavy panting. "FUCK ME!!!" "FUCK ME!!!"

You say, "We have no condom, what if you are pregnant?" or you can say "No..I will not have sex with you, my love for you is real one" and "CANNOT, I am still a virgin, I wanna keep it this way for my future wife!!!"

Usually at this time, the woman will turn aggressive and jump on you. Just stay there and keep saying "NO..we cannot...our love should not be tainted this manner". Finally she will move her ass and get herself into you. If you are at the missionary position, just follow her rhythm and try to press your kkc against the upper area of the opening which is the area you have been working on.

She should be screaming "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" in less than 1 minute. More screaming and trembling for another 10 to 20 secs. Then her body will become soft and totally exhausted. At this time, you can still do what you want to do. Just do it slowly and gently. She will feel very good even after the climax. Feel free to come anytime now.

After the whole thing, you should be tearing and say "How? This is my first time, I feel that I have been raped....kuakuakuakua...!"

After this, she will wet her panties just standing next to you and you can slowly teach her to do many tricks and you will find her a willing party.

Sometimes you may not want to use your tongue on strangers and especially if you didn't wash her thoroughly.

Ok, better stop here. There are 9 more methods but you need to figure them out yourself. I don't want to turn this into a sex blog.

WAH...this Phd guy really no Gahman!

Posted by blinkymummy on 30 June 2005
------------------------------------------------

NABEH CHEEBYE!!!

I was supposed to go to the bridal studio this evening to try on the gown but my schedule was too tight, so I smsed him to say that I would not be going.

Him: Remember to bring the ring if you still want to pass it to me.
BM: I can't go tonite. You go ahead. I'll pass you ring when I come back in 1 wk. U can then pass me money for suit and ring. Can you ask how much the suit cost?
Him: I thought you said the suit is covered in the deposit?
BM: Yes, it is. Need to know how much of the $S2K deposit it's taking up.
Him: You said you checked with them already, right? Otherwise, I would have never made the suit.
BM: No. They are not asking us to pay more money. Finding out how much the suit costs so that can work out how much you gonna pay me.
Him: I'm not going to pay anything. We're even on how much we had to fork out for the wedding.
BM: How are we even? You didn't pay for anything.
Him: the down payment for the dinner?
BM: Hey... I didn't ask for the dinner, ok.Him: Forget it lah. I thought we settled this already. That's why I said I didn't want the suit.
BM: Since when have we settled this? I didn't ask for the dinner, but we agreed on the bridal package and ring, so i paid for both upfront. Unless you are saying now that because you have to pay your share you dun want the suit and ring anymore?
Him: Yes.
Him: I paid for the dinner and have no more money.

NABEH CHEEBYE!!!How much more of this rubbish do I have to put up with?!!Only want the suit and the ring if no need to pay!!!FUCK!!! I mean, why would a straight man treats a hot girl like BM this way? If BM is going to marry me, I will take loan to pay everything man. Just watching her in shorts (more precisely, the legs that stick out from the shorts) already make my dragon spit out fire.

Can't even keep my dragon down. A chio bo swearing FUCKING this and FUCKING that is very sexy ah....hey hey OEI! ~ smashed a log on it ~ STAY DOWN!

I was supposed to rest after my first post but after reading the above BM's post, I have to post this because I feel so emotional that someone can treat a hot girl like that.

I think BM should stick to Ah Beng la. It's a mistake to try to marry a Phd because only Ah Beng like us will cherish a hot girl like BM. This Phd guy really doesn't care about 江湖规矩. This goes to all the hot girls out there. 好男人 (the bluff type) doesn't cherish hot girls.

I wonder if the suit is still available and if free I can remove it from BM to stop her from thinking about her bad Phd encounter.

My First Post

Just in case I get very famous like some bloggers I think I better make a Q&A in my first post so that I won't have to answer the same questions 1,001 times.

(1) Who are you?

Anonymous. Working class.

Definitely a guy. 100% loves female only. 100% may be an understatement.

Down there very big. Rockson calls his that thing a 'horse' and mine is a 'dragon' - ROOOOAAAR!. So if mine can make Rockson inferior you can imagine how big. A dragon can spit FIRE, can a horse do that? But since I am a very humble guy, I will not write about my dragon often.

My favourite author is Oscar Wilde (gay tendancy?)

My favourite actor/actress is Son Ye Jin from Korea (see...I am 100% one)

(2) Why do you call your blog "Ranting Rock"?

Ok, don't worry la. Just in case you start worrying that you have to pay to read my blog, it is free. Note the word "Ranting" and not "Renting", so it's free la.

Ranting means whinning?

Rock means nonsense?

My English is not very good one. For many years, my English borderlines between 'Ah Beng' standard and 'Shakespeare' standard. Actually I hate it. It is not cool to have no writing style. Yet it takes a lot of effort to write like Ah Beng or like Shakespeare. (I wonder how long Rockson edits his posts??)

So "Ranting Rock" means whinning about nonsense which is one of the reasons for the existence of Blogging.

(3) So why you start another blog (as if there are enough)?

First, because I laughed a lot reading Rockson's blog.

Secondly I really find Blinkymummy very chio and in order to impress her, I have to start a blog and improve my Bengness. She got very nice face and legs and I also like her picture with the hoo kee and I think she looks prettier now versus when she was a teenager.

Third, my school teachers always wrote in my report cards that I was talkative in classes. At least here I can talk and talk and talk and I will not get remarks in my report cards.

Unfortunately I don't have an imaginery friend like Lawrence to teach me how to link other interesting blogs and pictures. Once I learn how to do it, I will link some nice blogs like Rockson, Blinkymummy and SPG blogs here.

(4) So are you a pro-Gahman or anti-Gahman blogger?

Ok. There is this impression that most Ah Bengs and bloggers are anti-Gahman but how can this be? Every election still won. Use your blain la.

To avoid any doubt, I am a pro-Gahman blogger. In my future posts, I will be explaining the position of Gahman often. Ah, in case you start thinking, this guy must be from MCD and he is sent by the Minister to influence the blogger community, wrong that!

Don't be childish la, you think the Gahman worries (so should it be 'worry' or 'worries' ah? Gahman is singular or plural?) about what bloggers post? Oops...am I sounding like an anti-Gahman? I better stop here because I am pro one.

Ah, if you thinking that I am starting this blog to impress the Gahman so that I may be invited to run as a MP in the next election, you are partially right. I heard MP's salary very high. And as long as I don't sue the SPH (the Singapore no.1 gangster according to Rockson), I should be able to enjoy my salary and perks peacefully. This thought did linger a while in my head but since I am only Air level, I don't think PAP wants me.

I am pro-Gahman not because our Gahman is perfect. But I think they are going a good job already. I used to learn Economik in CJC and we were very famous for Economik during my time. Because I know the basic demand and supply curves, I can understand ...(talking about CJC, suddenly I recalled all the chio bus, I still remembered in my first 3 months and how I was overwhelmed with so many convent girls and cedar girls, but I must say girls from St. Anthony's Convert, the light blue uniforms one, were the fast workers because they were the first to cow me, the cedar girls just admired me and stole glances at me often).....why the Gahman needs to keep increasing prices.

Wah...writing blog is very tiring.
